A Prayer Before a Difficult Meeting
Some workdays carry one conversation that seems to overshadow everything else. This prayer is for a tense meeting, performance review, negotiation, disagreement, or difficult conversation where truth, courage, restraint, and self-control are all needed at the same time.
Father, go with me into this meeting. Help me listen carefully, speak truthfully, and resist the urge to become defensive. Give me calm when the conversation is tense and courage when something important needs to be said. Keep me from exaggeration, sarcasm, and words I will regret. Let me leave the room with my integrity intact, whether or not I get the outcome I want.
