A Thanksgiving Prayer for Our Country
Thanksgiving has a national history, but prayer for a country should include humility as well as gratitude. This prayer asks for wisdom, justice, peace, and honest reflection.
God, on this national day of thanksgiving, I pray for our country with gratitude and humility. Thank You for freedoms, communities, opportunities, and people who serve the public good. Where our history contains injustice, help us face it honestly rather than defensively. Give wisdom to leaders, courage to those who pursue justice, and compassion across political and cultural divides. Teach us to love our neighbors more than our slogans.
Amen.
