A Prayer for Holy Week
Holy Week moves through welcome, betrayal, service, suffering, death, silence, and resurrection. This prayer asks for attentiveness to the full story rather than rushing directly to Easter morning.
Jesus, as I move through Holy Week, keep me from rushing past the difficult parts of Your story. Let me stay attentive to Your final meal, Your prayers, betrayal, unjust treatment, suffering, and death. Show me the seriousness of sin and the depth of Your love. Keep the cross from becoming familiar enough that I stop noticing its cost. Prepare me to receive the joy of resurrection with a deeper understanding of the path that came before it.
Amen.
