PRAYERS TO START THE DAY

I Give This Day Back to You

Surrender is not passivity. It is the choice to place our plans, abilities, limits, relationships, and time under God's care. This prayer closes the morning collection with a fuller act of dedication, asking that the day be used wisely without turning life into a race for productivity or control.

Lord, this day is not mine to possess. My time, abilities, plans, relationships, opportunities, and limits all belong within Your care. I offer them back to You. Use what is strong in me, and work through what is weak. Close the doors that would lead me away from faithfulness, and give me courage to walk through the doors that require obedience. Keep me from wasting the day in resentment, comparison, or fear. Teach me to number my hours with wisdom without becoming obsessed with productivity. Let there be room for work, prayer, kindness, repentance, laughter, and rest. When evening comes, may I be able to look back not on a perfect day, but on a day in which I kept returning to You.

I entrust this day to You, through Jesus Christ. Amen.

Scripture: Romans 12:1-2 Psalm 90:12
