THANKSGIVING PRAYERS

A Thanksgiving Prayer for an Empty Chair

An empty chair at Thanksgiving can make grief feel especially sharp. This prayer is for those remembering someone who is no longer present at the table.

Compassionate God, there is someone missing from this table, and the absence is impossible to ignore. Thank You for the memories and love we still carry. Give us freedom to speak their name, laugh at what was good, and grieve what is gone. Do not let anyone feel pressured to hide sadness for the sake of the holiday. Hold us gently as gratitude and loss meet in the same room.

Amen.

Scripture: Matthew 5:4 Psalm 147:3
