A Prayer of Thanks for My Body Today
Our relationship with our bodies is often shaped by comparison, illness, aging, or dissatisfaction. This prayer does not deny physical limitations. It offers gratitude for the body as part of God's creation and asks for wisdom to care for it without worshiping appearance or performance.
Creator God, thank You for the body You have given me. Thank You for what it allows me to do today: breathe, move, speak, listen, work, embrace, rest, and experience the world around me. Where I feel frustrated by weakness, pain, disability, aging, or appearance, teach me to respond with honesty and compassion rather than contempt. Help me care for my body wisely without making health or appearance into an idol. Give me gratitude for what is possible today, patience with what is limited, and sensitivity toward those whose physical burdens are greater than mine.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
