A Prayer for Grief After Losing a Parent
The death of a parent can shift a person's sense of family history, identity, and belonging, even in adulthood. This prayer is for the unique grief of losing a mother or father.
Father, losing my parent has changed something deep in me. Thank You for the good I received, and help me also be honest about what was complicated or painful. I grieve the voice, presence, history, and connection that are gone. Help me carry forward what was worth keeping and release what still needs healing. Be near as I adjust to a family that now feels different.
