MORNING GRATITUDE

Let Gratitude Become the Way I Live Today

Gratitude is more than a feeling expressed during prayer. It can shape speech, generosity, patience, work, relationships, and the way we receive both abundance and limitation. This closing prayer asks that morning thanksgiving continue through the rest of the day as a practical way of living.

Lord God, I do not want gratitude to end when this prayer ends. Carry it into the rest of my day. When someone helps me, make me quick to say thank you. When I receive something good, keep me from acting entitled. When I face inconvenience, remind me how much mercy I have already received. Let gratitude make me generous with my time, careful with my words, faithful in my work, and patient with people. Protect me from forced positivity that ignores pain, but also from a cynical spirit that refuses to see goodness. Teach me to give thanks in all circumstances without pretending all circumstances are good. May my life today reflect the truth that every good gift ultimately comes from You.

Through Jesus Christ my Lord, Amen.
