PRAYERS IN GRIEF & LOSS

A Prayer in the First Days of Grief

The first days after a loss can feel unreal, disorienting, and physically exhausting. This prayer is for the early shock of grief, when words are difficult and the heart may not yet know how to process what has happened.

God, everything feels changed and I do not know how to carry this loss yet. The world keeps moving, but part of me feels frozen. Stay close to me in the shock, confusion, and exhaustion. Help me do the next necessary thing without demanding that I understand the whole road ahead. Receive the tears, the numbness, the silence, and the questions I cannot yet form. Hold me when I do not know how to hold myself.

Amen.

Scripture: Psalm 34:18 Matthew 5:4
