A Prayer for My Child's Character
Parents often focus on achievement because it is easy to measure. This prayer shifts attention toward character: honesty, courage, compassion, humility, discipline, and faithfulness.
God, form in my child a character stronger than talent and deeper than success. Grow honesty when lying would be easier, courage when doing right costs something, compassion toward people who are overlooked, and humility when things go well. Teach self-control, perseverance, generosity, and respect. Help me praise character as much as achievement and model the qualities I hope to see. May my child become not merely impressive, but trustworthy and kind.
Amen.
