PRAYERS FOR THE HOME

A Prayer for a Home After Loss

After death, separation, or another major loss, a familiar home can suddenly feel different. This prayer is for households learning how to live with absence while slowly creating new rhythms.

God of comfort, this home does not feel the same after our loss. Certain rooms, routines, and objects carry memories that can comfort us one moment and hurt the next. Give us permission to grieve differently from one another. Protect us from judging the pace of someone else's sorrow. Help us remember with gratitude without becoming trapped in the past. As new routines slowly form, do not let us feel guilty for moments of laughter or relief. Be present in the empty places and teach us how to live forward without pretending we have forgotten.

Amen.

Scripture: Psalm 34:18 Matthew 5:4
