A Prayer After an Election
Election results can bring relief, disappointment, fear, or anger. This prayer asks for steadiness, lawful transition, and continued responsibility after votes are counted.
Father, now that the votes are counted, keep our nation from bitterness and triumphalism. Give those elected humility and those disappointed restraint. Protect peaceful and lawful transitions of authority. Remind us that citizenship does not end after election day. Help us continue to seek accountability, serve our neighbors, and pray for leaders without excusing wrongdoing.
Amen.
