An Opening Prayer to Center Everything on Christ
The church can become distracted by programs, personalities, preferences, and performance. This prayer closes the set by asking that Jesus remain the center of every gathering.
Lord Jesus, be the center of this gathering. Keep us from making church about personalities, preferences, platforms, or appearances. Let every song, prayer, sermon, announcement, and act of service point beyond itself toward You. Correct us when we seek attention for ourselves. Comfort us when we arrive weary. Challenge us when we have become comfortable. Unite us around Your grace and truth, and send us out more ready to follow You than when we came in.
Amen.
