A Prayer After an Argument
Conflict is inevitable in marriage, but contempt and unresolved resentment do not have to become permanent. This prayer is for the period after an argument, when emotions are still active but reconciliation may be possible.
Jesus, we have hurt each other, and the tension is still here. Show me my part clearly before I focus on my spouse's faults. Keep me from using silence, sarcasm, blame, or old wounds as weapons. Give us enough calm to speak honestly and enough humility to apologize specifically. If we need time before talking again, help us use that time to become wiser, not colder. Lead us toward reconciliation that is truthful, not superficial.
Amen.
